Municipalities

The municipalities of Kosovo are administrative units at the local level, which constitute the closest level of governance and local administration in the country. Kosovo is divided into a total of 38 municipalities, which are responsible for providing services and managing various community issues at the local level.
Kosovo municipalities take care of basic services, such as primary education, health, water and infrastructure, waste management, urban planning, sports and culture. Each municipality has a council elected by its citizens, which presides over decision-making and defines local-level policies for the development and well-being of the community.
The main goal of Kosovo's municipalities is to ensure that the needs and interests of their citizens are adequately met. Municipalities play a key role in the development of the region, promoting education, culture, tourism and the local economy, creating improved conditions for their citizens.
In general, Kosovo's municipalities have an important role in providing high quality services and in the development of local communities, working to create a suitable and sustainable environment for their residents.
